Emma's CV

Academic Employment

Leadership

  • As a research assistant collaborating on projects focused on biocontrol, pollinator interactions, and plant defenses while working in greenhouse, field, and lab settings I have been able to become well versed in many different academic surroundings.

  • Also, as a teaching assistant accountable for creating exam questions, maintaining regular communication with the students and professor, entering grades, and co-hosting review sessions, I have learned some of the "behind the scenes" work of my classes at The University of Florida.

Volunteer Actives

  • As a peer mentor for the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars program, I was responsible for mentoring three freshman students through their first year at the University of Florida by organizing monthly meetings and having weekly communication with each student to guarantee their success. I have now moved into a new role as a member of the leadership team, overseeing all the work of the MFOS office and new peer mentors.

  • In my role as a secretary for the Murphree Area Council, I learned what I was like to help delegate a large budget and plan events for more than 1000+ residents.

  • By completing 16 hours of service per semester around the Gainesville community as a volunteer with Omega Phi Alpha along with other spirit events, I have not only been able to maintain community involvement, but also give back to those that need it most.
